Hooray! Spring is finally springing into action! Why not celebrate it by booking a mini bluebell photoshoot with me. Bring the kids, the dogs, or the whole family. The bluebells create a stunning backdrop, amongst the woods, a popular choice of setting for families and photographers.
A lot of people want to know what to wear for a Bluebell shoot. Firstly I would urge you to keep away from strong and loud patterns, logo’s and bright colours, simple clothing photographs best. Whites and denim are my favourites.
You may have a little one that likes a pretty dress or one who hangs out in scruffy jeans and a t shirt, both work very well. Remember the woods can be quite dark and cool at this time of year so make sure everyone has an extra layer to put on, just in case. No one wants to be photographed if they are cold and miserable.
I do my mini sessions in a few locations around Hertfordshire. My favourite place is a lovely wild looking woods in Chorleywood near Old Shire Lane. It is stunning and very deserted, perfect for a photoshoot. Another great location is Whippendell Woods on Grove Mill Lane, it is an ancient woodland on the edges of Watford. Then there is the spectacular carpets of bluebells on the Ashridge Estate. Ashridge is one of the most popular places in the country for seeing bluebells, with thousands of people coming from far and wide to enjoy the spectacular carpets of flowers each spring. It’s very busy and I would recommend doing a weekday shoot here as weekends get very busy.
